hi. if you are joining me here, you probably just read my instagram post, or heard from a friend, or from me, Mike or my family about this crazy idea of mine to start a blog. truthfully, this is something that has been on my heart for quite some time, ever since we learned the initial shocking news about baby #2. and truthfully, it’s very scary for me to share my life with the world, so i am jumping in head first.
if you know me more personally, you know i lay awake most nights with thoughts and feelings running through my head. i decided, for me, that it would be most helpful and therapeutic to get them out, to make a journal of sorts. and that is where this blog was born – 2 am, awake with my feelings.
my hopes and goals for this space are:
- to provide a place where friends and family can stay up-to-date with our journey during this pregnancy and into parenthood with two under two
- to be an advocate for our baby and share resources we have found helpful
- to connect with others walking a similar path
- to *hopefully* ease my mind (and get a little more sleep at night)
if you happened here by chance, or just have no idea what i am talking about, my name is Stefanie. i am recently 30 and currently pregnant with our second baby who has been blessed with an extra chromosome. it’s extremely rare for my age, but there is a 90% chance our baby will have down syndrome. we will know more definitively what is going on with baby in the coming weeks. more on that later.
in the meantime, i ask that we keep this space positive and full of prayer. if you know anyone who is sharing in this same journey, please share this with them. feel free to comment! i would love to connect with everyone.

Congrats! Welcome to an amazing world you never knew existed. My first 2 years were scary and confusing, but now that my lil guy is 3 and we’ve overcome the hurdles, it’s the best!

I totally happened upon here by chance. I never use the search feature but decided to search Down syndrome. All I can tell you is I’ve been where you are. It’s hard but I can tell already you’ll get through it. Congrats on your pregnancy!

Stefanie, I’ve been praying for you, Mike, Landon and baby # 2 ever since I heard the news. I think your blog is a great idea. I follow a mom on Facebook who writes beautifully about her autistic daughter who also has epilepsy. I haven’t had very much exposure to autism or epilepsy before and I’ve learned so much from reading her posts. She shares some of the hard parts and also the lighter side of things. But she is very mindful of being careful about what she posts. Never posting anything that would embarrass her now teenager. I know you will find some great blogs about Down Syndrome out there that you can learn from and will have a positive influence on you. There might even be bloggers who have Down syndrome. I will definitely be following you and will continue to pray for you and your baby.

I’m so happy that you are doing this, so that you can encourage others who are scared of the news that they may have a child with Down Syndrome. Our son with DS is 11 and though I didn’t know beforehand, when I had him we had the love and support of family and friends that made all the worry I had go away. I will pray for you and your family. HI Debbie, It’s so wonderful to connect with you and hear your son is thriving! We just moved back to Atlanta to have the support of family and feel that was the best move we could make. I want the world to know that this is not a death sentence and it’s a pregnancy and baby that should be equally celebrated. I appreciate all the prayers and encouragement!
